What We Do

It has been our mission to fundamentally improve researcher services by empowering the experts and taking out unnecessary middlemen. To-date our focus has been on setting up successful partnerships with global publishers (e.g. Brill, Emerald, Hindawi), and piloting partnerships with universiities and research institutions (e.g. Erasmus University Rotterdam) which greatly enhance our reach.

Crowdfunding is the next logical step for our expert-led, researcher-services platform. And with this new phase, we will be shifting our focus to accelerating the growth of Institutional Solutions, as well as fine-tune our services offered to a global academic community.

Services on offer include; copy-, language- and scientific-editing, translation services, publication support, format and design, statistical support, manuscript writing support and others.

Key Achievements
Why Peerwith?

With Institutional Solutions, researchers at an institution are given access to thousands of academic experts from around the world. Institutional Solutions packages can improve the quality of research output and grow an institution’s scientific impact. The networks and relationships of expert stakeholders in Peerwith will help us grow and solidify this solution within the Peerwith offerings.

Unique to Peerwith is that our experts work directly with researchers, with no third-party middleman sitting in between. Key to the quality, tailored services we offer is this unique relationship and who better to drive the focus on researcher needs than the very experts who receive an average rating of 4.85 out of 5 from our researcher customers.

We believe that by empowering Peerwith experts and making them part of our company, we can together provide the ultimate platform for researcher services, taking us as a business successfully into the future.

Market and investment opportunity

According to Scopus.com this year over 2 million articles are published in scientific journals, growing 4% per year. Around 48% is from Asia (and growing, specifically China). Over a quarter of those articles are offered for English Language editing pre-submission. Marketsize for just Language editing is around $125m. Adjacent markets are substantial too. The current market for researcher & author services is dominated by agencies while the work is being done by self-employed professionals. This is a classic middle-men scenario, which has been disrupted in several other markets already. It has been our mission to fundamentally improve researcher services by empowering the experts and taking out unnecessary middlemen.

Crowdfunding is the next logical step for our expert-led, researcher-services platform. And with this new phase, we will be shifting our focus to accelerating the growth of institutional solutions, as well as fine-tune our services offered to a global academic community.  The investment will be used for: marketing, sales, both primarily in additional resources. For the rest: paid acquisition on a global scale and product development. Our roadmap includes the Institutional Cockpit as a key feature in our partner approach and a major attraction in the Institutional Solutions on offer. And building on the foundations of the successful launch of Peerwith – the marketplace, we will also be announcing the launch of a new smart coin – PeerwithCoin. PeerwithCoin will help us create a more complete researcher services ecosystem with the addition of a currency in the Peerwith marketplace, making our platform a more efficient, reliable and convenient place to do business.
